A Tribute to Malaysia’s King of Music, AHMAD NAWAB

Byline: Qadeem Zieman

Remembering the recently deceased Maestro of Malaysia, Seniman Negara Tan Sri Dato' Seri Dr Ahmad Nawab Khan, who passed away at 92 years of age. He was quite close to my late mother (Zieman) as she was once his manager and was partially involved in writing his biography in the 2000s. My deepest condolences go to the family of Tan Sri Ahmad Nawab. May they have the strength to cope with such great loss.

A collection of his wonderful creations stand in the lines of Malaysian, Singaporean and Indonesian tunes sung by the late 2nd National Songstress, Datuk Hajah Sharifah Aini, Datuk Khadijah Ibrahim, Datuk Jamal Abdilah, Datuk DJ Dave, Ramlah Ram, Broery Marantika, Hetty Koes Endang, and many others, including some in collaboration with the late Tan Sri P. Ramlee.

He was also responsible for producing the debut album of Rozita Rohaizad’s in 1978, titled 'Hari Yang Ku Nantikan'.

His evergreen musical works of over 2,000 pieces shall remain forever in our ears and hearts.

Below is the link to one of songs sung by Tan Sri Ahmad Nawab, 'Sehari Bersama Mu' from 1981.
